Pure theater. With the waste and fraud already on the books, a name change only makes sense if it’s cover for more unnecessary governance — and this doesn’t look necessary. Even if you grant the task-force will “work,” what’s left to do that we don’t already know about AI — unless the real worry is how other systems handle government secrets? To me it’s a puppet show: not real enough, not worthy of a new force. The rename burned time and money; the force is more government not doing what it should. Then again — isn’t that the point?
And the audience isn’t you. It’s other countries and the world’s elites. Trump needs relevance while China and peers crush ahead. Powers buy the biggest stick to shake: “my AI is more dangerous than yours,” answered by “mine’s worse.” Billion-dollar stick-size sharing. Don’t confuse the costume with the game.
