I honestly thought this was already a thing. Gemini puts a butt-ugly mark on every generated image, so I assumed every serious lab already tagged output somehow. Claude's version is quieter, and that is the mix-up in most writeups. This is not a stamp you can see. It is a statistical pattern in the low-stakes word choices, overcast versus grey, so a key can later say Claude was probably involved. Gemini chat has had that invisible text method since 2024. The ugly picture overlay is a different product. File credentials are a third thing. Mash them together and you scare yourself about the wrong layer.
I hope this ushers in checks and balances. In my read, Anthropic is also benchmarking data and reach. I think it is both: a public detection standard, and a company that size can track more than the blog post admits. Tracking prompts can turn into data leaking if nobody is watching. That is a corporate money grab waiting to happen if they get sloppy with what they collect.
I am not worried yet. I will treat it as good until I see otherwise. I am not turning a blind eye either.
What the mark does not prove still matters for everyone on this Network. It does not identify you, your company, or the chat. Short samples fail. Code barely marks. A light proofread barely marks. A rewrite can strip it. ANN's text detector still scores writing patterns. We do not have Anthropic's key. Do not confuse likely Claude was involved with we can prove who wrote this.
